At Rhodes Family Goldens we care about giving our dogs the love, care, and training they deserve.

From the moment these pups were born, they had an understanding of what it is to be a part of a family. We believe that when you bring a dog into your home they become part of the family, part of the pack. We believe in being responsible and caring for all life and that includes the animals we care for. We’ve done our very best to socialize these puppies so they know exactly what it means to live in a home, listen to music, play with kids, hear loud noises, understand “lights out”, be loved, snuggle, potty in the right place, and participate in a unique human+dog pack.

Before allowing Lola to breed we worked hard preparing her and ourselves in the hopes of welcoming some little goldens into the world. After tons of research, many vet appointments, DNA Lab tests, health clearances, meticulous registrations, and waiting… we patiently set the stage for these puppies to have their best life.

I’m pleased to say, that all of this hard work and dedication paid off! Lola has been such a great mother! Her puppies are healthy, growing, and learning quickly as we train and prepare them for their future homes. We work all day every day and late into the nights preparing these sweet golden bundles for their future homes. We’re training them to maneuver difficult terrain and enter dark and challenging places to bolster confidence, bravery, and problem solving in order to get out of tight spots. With all their hard work, they make time to take plenty of naps.

Potty training will continue after you bring your little bundle home but we’ve begun the journey for you. These puppies have a room in our house and are trained to go to the bathroom in a tray with pine pellets. This helps them define there play/sleep/and potty place. As you bring them home you can take advantage of this and use the pine pellets as a familiar smell to help them know where to go to the bathroom if you so choose. It will take continued repetition and time but the foundation we are laying will be instrumental for a faster learning curve.

We’re also beginning to train them to sit appropriately for attention and food. Our goal is for them to be familiar with the command “sit” and to patiently wait for food and treats.

If you’d like to keep up to date on anything else the puppies are doing/learning, feel free to check our facebook here.
